Porsaanreikiä etsimässä / Looking for loopholes

Hupsis.

I am just as guilty as I look: after almost three weeks of Project 333, I have started to look for loopholes. My 33-piece wardrobe is depressing. This sky-blue mohair sweater is not one of my 33 allowed items, but I've been storing it in my "in home lounge-wear"-shelf. There are a few groups of clothes that don't count in the Project 333 rules, and "home clothes" is one of them. I have a pair of sweatpants, a couple of long-sleeved t-shirts, an ugly sweater... and this awesome sweater in my at-home-pile. I stuck this sweater in there knowing that I'd wear it outside the house as well, so I guess I knew from the start that I'd cheat the first chance I get. I also bought a skirt and a pair of trousers at the flea market today. Oops.

    1. Thanks! I'm really loving this shade of blue, it makes me feel alive. I guess there is something to be said about the power of color! :) And I know what you mean re: the yarn. It's sort of awful and tacky... but still awesome! :)

  4. I love that sweater, and rather envy you your ability to wear mohair (or mewhair as I prefer to call it...especially at the moment, surrounded by kitties.) It feels like thousands of tiny needles (claws?) poking me whenever I try to wear it, alas. The shade of blue is absolutely beautiful and really suits you.

I haven't yet acquainted myself with the challenge you're referencing here, but if it's like the others I've seen in the past, I admire those who can hack it and sympathize deeply with those who find it frustrating. I'm not sure how I'd do, as thus far I've been too ADD and disorganized (and busy, to be fair) to undertake any of them myself. I might enjoy the enforced simplicity since I tend to have a cluttery mind and environment, but I bet I'd cheat too. ;-) Perhaps some of us simply enjoy a certain amount of artistic variety and wardrobe spontaneity too much to readily settle for less than we're comfortable with? I always thought I'd do okay with a capsule wardrobe thingy if it was just, you know, generously proportioned enough....clothing's emotional for me and sometimes a certain item is just what I was needing to pick up a blue mood, inspire me creatively, relax me...and so forth.

    1. The only problem I have with mohair is that typically I can't wear my contacts when wearing mohair; I always seem to get a hair in my eye and then all hell breaks loose. :)

I think I'm a lot like you in terms of clothing choices being emotional. I've always admired people with capsule wardrobes... but I just don't know if it's "me". That's not to say that I will always have too many clothes though; I still need to do some culling and get rid of stuff I just never wear. But I don't think I'd ever feel quite right with only a very limited number of clothes. I guess everyone has their own number that works for them. :)
