Olen työstänyt muutamaa blogipostausta iäisyyden: minua mietityttää vaatteiden kiertokulku ja etenkin käyttöikä, mutta en tunnu saavan postauksia valmiiksi millään. Ajatukset pyörivät kehää. Lisäksi arkeamme ovat sulostuttaneet Audreyn anaalirauhasten tukkeuma sekä siitä johtuvat hajuhaitat ja merkkauskriisi. Eläinlääkärin puhelinnumero on tullut taas liiankin tutuksi, mutta minkäs teet. Kissojen kanssa elämisessä on varjopuolensakin.

Kevät on saapunut ja minua inspiroi ilmeisestikin vuodelta 1932 oleva kuva, jonka bongasin jostain Pinterestin syövereistä. Väljää, laskeutuvaa kerrospukeutumista tulevalle kesälle, kiitos!

I've been working on a couple of  blog posts recently, about the circulation and the lifespan of clothes. For whatever reason I can't seem to finish them - my thoughts are just running in circles. Also, our lives have been, hmm, enriched by Audrey's anal sack problems. Yikes. We've been calling the vet's office an awful lot, what whaddayagonnado... Life with cats has its ups and downs.

But on a more positive note: spring is finally here. The photo above (Japanese street style from 1932) is my current source of inspiration. Loose, flowy layers for summer, please! I don't know the picture's original source, but I found it here. 

Matkaavat korut / Traveling jewels

Smaragdinvihreä ja vintage-opaalisormukset kiinnostavat, nyt ja aina. Hopeinen rannekoru yllä on Istanbulin Grand Bazaarista. Alla vasemmalla 1950-luvun opaalisormus vintagekaupasta Endicottista New Yorkista ja oikeanpuolimmainen viktoriaanisen ajan safiirikoristeltu opaalisormus Portobello Road Marketilta Lontoosta.

Currently (and always) digging: emerald green and vintage opal rings. The silver bracelet above is from the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Below, the 1950s opal ring on the left is from a vintage shop in Endicott, New York. The sapphire decorated, Victorian opal ring, on the right, is from Portobello Road Market in London.

Yksityiskohtia / Details

Ostin tämän mustan silkkipuseron kirpputorilta kahdeksalla eurolla jokin aika sitten. Niskalapun mukaan pusero on Kiinassa tehty ja käsinkirjailtu. En tiedä tarpeeksi vaatteiden kirjailuista tietääkseni, onko tällaisen kirjailun tekeminen käsin edes mahdollista. Kai se on?

I bought this black silk blouse at a flea market for eight euros. According to the tag, the blouse was manufactured in China and it is hand-embroidered. I don't know enough about embroidery. Is it really possible to produce embroidery like this by hand? 

Tässä on pieni osa japanilaisen luonnonvalkoisen kimonotakkini selkämystä. Ostin takin Hoochie Mama Janesta, jonka omistajan, Irjan, asiantuntemuksen mukaan kimono on kyllä vanha, muttei antiikkinen. Kierretty ja sieltä täältä availtu silkkinauha on pujoteltu kankaaseen huolellisesti - sellaisella taidolla, jota nykyisin harvoin kohtaa.

This is the back of a Japanese off-white kimono jacket that I bought at Hoochie Mama Jane some time ago. Irja, the shop's owner, told me that the jacket is old, but not antique. The back of the jacket is decorated with silk ribbon that has been twisted and then opened in places, to produce a rich texture. It's the type of skill that few people have these days.
