Kun päätin olla ostamatta uusia uusia vaatteita vuoden ajan, hautasin haaveeni mustista, siisteistä, matalista syyssaappaista. Olen metsästänyt sopivia second hand-saappaita jo ikuisuuden, mutta mistään ei ole löytynyt sopivia. Aina niissä on ollut jotain vialla: koko, tyyli, mikä milloinkin. Soljellisia, rönttöisiä prätkäbuutseja olisi kyllä löytynyt vaikka muille jaettavaksi, mutta sellaisia en halunnut. Olin siis jo hyväksynyt ajatuksen, että jos haluaisin saappaani, ne pitäisi ostaa uutena, sitten joskus vuoden päästä.
Viime viikon maanantaina siskoni ja minä kävimme Fredrikinkadun Uffissa, jossa oli sattumoisin käynnissä happy hour, kaikki -20%. Ja sieltä löytyivät nämä saappaat. Hyvän kokoiset, sirot, sopivan kapeat, ja vielä nätitkin. Jee!
When I decided not to buy new new clothes for a year, I resigned to the fact that I wasn't going to get my hands on a pair of black boots for a while. I'd been looking for a pair of second hand, simple, feminine, black flat boots for a long time. Easier said than done - there are plenty of boots out there, but something was always off, be it size, fit or overall style. I knew I didn't want rough and tough biker boots, which was pretty much the only thing I could find. I had come to realize that I was going to have to buy the boots new, and the one-year-without-new-clothes challenge meant that a year-long wait was in the cards.
A week ago my sister and I walked into a charity store in Helsinki. They had a happy hour, everything was 20% off. And lo and behold, I found my boots. Just the right size, the right fit, a simple but quirky design. Yay!
