Vaateinspiraatiosta / On Style Inspiration

Joskus, varsinkin syksyisin, silmäni hakeutuvat tietynlaisiin vaateärsykkeisiin. Joku väri, tekstuuri, muoto tai materiaali tuntuu oikealta ja sitä haluaa nähdä ympärillään. Syntyy erityinen into pukeutua tietyllä tavalla. On parasta, kun inspiraatio löytyy omasta vaatekaapista. Ei tarvitse ostaa mitään uutta.

Especially in the fall, my eye starts to travel: I want to see and feel a particular color, texture, shape or material. I get excited about getting dressed in the mornings. When the inspiration can be found in one's own wardrobe - well, it's just the best. There's no need to buy anything new.

Alkusyksynä pukeudun okranvärisiin pellavashortseihin, hailakan siniseen silkkipaitaan ja pörröneuleeseen. Kun sää viilenee, vaihdan alaosaksi puolisääreen ulottuvan villahameen. Lisäksi hakeudun vakosametin välittömään läheisyyteen. (Vakosamettikuva on jostain vanhasta Ellestä, parin vuoden takaa.)

This fall I will wear my ocher-colored linen shorts, a pale blue silk blouse and a fuzzy cardigan. When the weather gets cooler, I will switch from the shorts to a calf-length wool pencil skirt. And then there is corduroy. I feel the need to get close to corduroy. (The corduroy photo is from an old issue of US Elle.)

Lisäksi pinnalla ovat hedelmien ja vihannesten värit, lurex, mokkanahka, ja oliivinvihreän ja punaisen yhdistelmä.

Bubbling under: colors of fruit and vegetables, lurex, suede, and the combo of olive green and red.

    1. Hi Carolyn, so nice to hear from you! I'm a little worried about that voice of mine - it's been so long since I've written anything in English, I feel like I'm all rusty. :)

  2. Oh corduroy! My favorite autumn/winter fabric too, in all the lovely warm toned cozy autumn colors. I much prefer to wear corduroy pants to work when the temperatures drop. They are so much warmer than regular work trousers and just have that autumn-y vibe. Truth be told, I avoid the work trouser as much as possible and lean towards skirts in spring/summer and of course cords for autumn/winter.

    1. Corduroy is the best, isn't it! There really is something warm about the texture; they are so much more comfortable in cool weather than, say, jeans. :)
