On niin pirun pimeää, että hirvittää. Teoriassa pidän kyllä hämäristä illoista, kynttilänvalosta, leivinuunin lämmittämisestä, kietoutumisesta villavilttiin ja -sukkiin teekupin kanssa kun sade piiskaa ikkunaa. Oikeasti näkisin kuitenkin mielummin eteeni. Kissojen takia tuvassa ei voi juurikaan polttaa kynttilöitä eikä tuikkulyhtyjä lasketa. Leivinuuni puskee savua tupaan. Viltin kulma on kissan oksennuksessa ja villasukat valuvat jalasta. Tee pissattaa.
Onneksi on kirpparilta löytynyt käyttämätön Arabian Kokki-vuoka. Saako jo laittaa jouluvalot?
It's so bloody dark outside, it's not even funny. In theory I like dark evenings, candle light, the warm baking oven, wool blankets and -socks, endless cups of tea. In reality I'd prefer to see where I'm going. We can't really have too many candles in the house because of the cats. The baking oven shoots smoke into the kitchen. The wool blanket has cat throw-up on it. Tea makes you go pee.
Well, at least I found an awesome, unused Arabia oven dish at the flea market. Is it too early for Christmas lights?

ReplyDeleteVoi, mä nauroin ääneen tän jutun kanssa... Täällä myrskyäminen jatkuu ja jatkuu ulkona, kattopellit paukkuu niin että järki lähtee. Asiakkaat ei muuta tee kun marmattaa säästä, ja mä taistelen vastaan eten lipsauttaisi: "muuta mallorcalle, perkules!" Mutta joo, tiedän mitä tarkoitat, antaisin aika paljon että tulis lunta, ja siellä on viel paljon pimeämpi kun täällä... Mites olis jouluksi Lappiin?

ReplyDeleteQuestion: how do you feel about strings of lights? (Not necessarily Christmas lights.) I have an old home with some deficiencies--it was built by people of very limited means, expanded upon awkwardly and unprofessionally, and it's also just naturally dark due to its style and placement. This really began to bother me in winter since I need a lot of light for both practical and psychological reasons. Strings of lantern lights are kind of bohemian and whimsical, pretty, cheery, AND make things brighter.
Oh I love the idea of strings of lights, both indoors and out! :)
